22nd Annual Governor's EEO Conference
On behalf of Governor Steven L. Beshear and Personnel Cabinet Secretary Nikki Jackson, you are invited to attend the 22nd Annual Governor's EEO Conference sponsored by the Personnel Cabinet’s Office of Diversity and Equality. The conference is scheduled for Wednesday, October 1st, at the Lexington Convention Center, located at 430 West Vine Street, Lexington, KY.
Join us as we take a journey through "The Evolution of Equality" uniting both public and private sector HR administrators, managers/supervisors, employees, and community supporters to dialogue, share best practices and insight on how we can enrich the workplaces of our Commonwealth with a shared vision of inclusion and equality. Local and national presenters are prepared to engage us through interactive sessions on topics including: Diversity Management, Intrapersonal Communications, Generational Workforce Planning, EEOC Race Initiatives, Cyber Crime Investigations and more!!! Commonwealth HR professionals will benefit from Diversity/EEO training and legal updates; managers and supervisors will also gain knowledge on how to protect and motivate your personnel. Employees will learn about their employment rights and responsibilities, as well as the Commonwealth’s obligations regarding equal opportunity compliance. The session on Cyber Crimes will educate participants on advances in electronic communications, and how our messages may be tracked and used as evidence in law enforcement and workplace investigations. You'll also get a sneak preview of the Kentucky Human Resource Information System (KHRIS) which is scheduled to go live in January 2009!
We are pleased to welcome the Kentucky State Council of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as a partner in hosting the Governor's Equal Opportunity Luncheon. Mr. Johnny Taylor, Jr., CEO of RushmoreDrive.com, internationally recognized presenter, attorney, and immediate past national chairman of SHRM, will be our featured keynote speaker. In addition to other luncheon highlights, a community leader will be chosen to join the ranks of the Charles Anderson Laureate Award recipients. Past honorees have included the late Ann Braden and Rev. Louis Coleman, Jr.; Senator Georgia Powers, Former First Lady Judi Patton, and Senator Gerald Neal, to name a few. I encourage you to honor someone for their personal sacrifices and dedication to the community with a nomination for the Anderson Award. The nomination form is attached.
All conference attendees have two registration options this year. You may register for the luncheon at $35 or enjoy the full experience for only $90. All registrations must be made in advance. Conference details and on-line registration are available at: http://personnel.ky.gov/diversity/eeoconf/. All major credit cards, agency vouchers, and checks are accepted.
If you have questions, or require further assistance, please contact Colene Elridge with the Office of Diversity and Equality at coleneh.elridge@ky.gov or (502) 564-8000. Thank you in advance for your support, and we look forward to seeing you on October 1st!!!
